Truck Bed Rubber Mat

Figure a new truck deserves a new rubber mat considering my current mat was originally purchase for a 92 Ford. Since I fear we will be empty nesters some time this year, it is important that I can remove/install the mat by myself. While I could easily rig a pulley system to do it, was thinking it would be nice to remove it in sections.

So far my choices are two 4x6x3/4" stall mats or this 2x2 interlocking mat.

Which would you prefer or do you use something else?

  • Cheap yoga mats from WallyWorld. 25,000 miles and counting and they are holding up fine and the camper doesn't move.

  • The 3/4-inch thick 4'x 8' rubber horse stall mat works but it is massively heavy.
I cut mine into sections that match the camper frame. It makes the rubber mat easier to remove and doesn't reduce truck payload as much.

x2. I also cut a pattern to line the camper interior floor. It just pops out for cleaning and offers some insulation in the cold as well as being soft. I cut and fitted a carpet to cover it .
  • We had the dealer add a spray in bedliner to our truck. They used Line X and the company did a really nice job. But it is too slick. We also have the fifth wheel prep package and the pucks that hide the holes in the bed are very vulnerable to getting kicked out if things slide around.
We have rubber padding on both sides of the spacer we use to raise the camper a few inches over the bed so we didn't think we needed a pad. but because of the slickness and the pucks we got it a 1/4 inch 4x8 pad and when we use the goose neck we just roll it up and leave it in the bed. Real easy for one person to handle.
And yeah we think a new truck deserves a new pad of it's very own.
  • I used a DeeZee truck mat which was thin yet did the job. I'm now using two 3/4" thick hose stall mats and they much harder to handle. The only reason I went with these mats was to clear gooseneck hardware in my deck.
  • I went with the 4x6 stall mat first but found I wasn't he-man enough to get it in and out of the truck.

Now use 1/4 inch truck bed mat.

Saves quite a few pounds and I can handle it by myself.
