Truck cab radio

After suffering for 2 years with the stock radio in my 2006 Dodge ram 4 door truck, I replaced the radio and speakers purchased from Crutchfield. They included all the adapters for wiring and instructions how to take the dash apart, pull the old radio out, install new radio, take doors apart to replace speakers, etc. However, this radio sucks worse than the stock one did! After another 5+ years of crappy radio, I've had it!!

Can anyone recommend a GOOD sounding radio/speaker system and a business that can be trusted to install correctly? Northern California area is where I'm from, but maybe there's a national chain that could be recommended to do this.

I'd do it over, but after spending hundreds of $$'s I'm not taking the chance of being accountable for the lack of sound quality. I would be happy to pay someone to do it right and have it sound good.

  • I thought Crutchfield had a really good return policy and customer support? Did you try to return it after you got it from them?
  • You would have to call the Sacramento store to ask what they have avaialble for listening prior to purchase. The store here in San Marcos has a small room with different speakers and subwoofers to explore so maybe they have the same. I don't know about guaranteeing total satsfaction though. That's a tall order.
  • Thanks Sloop. Will they recommend and guarantee audio satisfaction? Buying from an ad, I just don't believe I'm capable of selecting the right components based on my past experience. I want someone to sit me down in a sound room and demo the radios and speakers at a minimum. Maybe Fry's has that?
  • Go the nearest large city, (Sacramento I assume) and stop at the largest one you can find. They will fix you right up.
