We spent several years travelling with a rooftent and various Land Rover models-------we just love camping with our Dodge/Lance rig-----the hardest thing about setting-up camp is getting out of the truck and climbing the 4 steps into the camper.
To be honest, the only thing I really hated about the rooftent was packing up the wet tent----everything got sooo wet and cold.
We are not fit enough now for the whole rooftent lifestyle, and just accept the limitations of a big truck/camper----but with 4x4 and reasonable ground-clearance it's not so bad.
