Truck Camper MSRP

Hey Everybody. I am new to this site and am looking to buy my first ever truck camper. The issue I am running into is that the price on campers seems to be all over the place. I am sure some of that has to do with different equipment but even taking that into account it seems there is a lack of consistent pricing. I found a link online that says the MSRP for a Lance 865 is around $21,000 but trying to find one for that price is almost impossible. The NADA Guide says you can find the same camper anywhere from 17,700 to 32,00 which is a range that doesn't tell me much. I would love to hear from you folks about how you went about finding a truck camper that is fairly priced.

Thanks

  • Local dealer had $43,995 on sale. I went to another dealer where their sale price was 37,995. Took it back to the local dealer. "Oh, we will match that."

Put in the work and the time to get what you want, but only you can determine if it's fair or not.
  • Here's what I do when looking for a new vehicle or RV. I do a search online for the Lance 865... RV Trader Online, Craigslist, Local RV Dealers and other sites that pop up when I do a Google search.

This will give me a range of prices. I then decide how much the unit is worth to me. I start negotiations with a very low offer and hold fast to see how far down the dealer will drop their price. Try this at a few dealers (you can do this online, over the phone or in person). This will head you towards the bottom line price. Choose the dealer you want to buy from and start negotiating to get to your price. Make them come down to your price don't offer it up. If they get close to your price then start asking for extras...until you feel comfortable with the deal. The last vehicle I bought it took 6 hours of negotiations before we reached an agreement.

Have fun with it; it's a game.
