I wouldn't believe anyone that says it won't shift forward on you without blocking. Makes no sense. Anyway, you didn't say why it sits back that far. Presuming camper won't go any farther forward before it hits something in back?
In that case, yes just put the appropriate sized solid blocking in the bed across the front for the camper to rest against.
I think most people do that. My camper fits fine but the little rubber bumpers up front just squish after a while on the road and the camper ends up slap against the front of the bed.
