Speed dictates your reaction time. Speed must be adjusted under different weather and roadway conditions. REACTION TIME to avoid something unexpected.
55-60 unless im getting away from someone who isn't paying attention to what they are doing . Then i will pump it up to pass in order to get away from him/her.
It's safer for me to have that other driver screw up while behind me rather than in front of me.
When it rains, i slow down to where i feel more safe, maybe 50-55 mph.
I was always taught , when traveling above 55 mph, you are riding on a bead of water in a moderate to heavy rain on a normal road surface. Hitting a puddle increases risk and loss of control occurs at lower speeds.
