Truck Camping in Seattle???????

Almost ashamed to say after all this, but we didn't make it to Seattle. :o Scheduling with my son and his fiancee just could not be worked out enough to allow the Seattle plans to work.

We ended up staying in the eastern part of Washington and camped in my sons driveway as well as at Heyburn Lake State Park south of Coeur d'Alene Idaho.

Wife and I did hit the Black Hills, and Badlands National Parks on the way home. So I too could say the trip was an absolute success, despite the almost 180 change in plans once we reached Pullman WA.

Please remember that I am Scandinavian and to take a hint to follow, as you obviously did from my memory of our encounter, you would have needed to lean out your passenger window and hit me in the forehead with a shovel. :S

I often park the TC in between Fremont and Ballard and then take a bus downtown. Plenty of street parking and safe.
Also love the suggestion to park or camp near one of the ferries, in Bremerton, etc as taking the ferry directly to the downtown area of the city is inexpensive and convenient. Careful of some of the steep roads if you are driving the TC downtown.

Metro 187 goes from Dash Point State Park in Federal Way to a transit center where you can also catch numerous buses into Seattle.

That's pretty feasible walk, thanks. Last time we were there our friends had their fifth wheel so we drove their truck. Going forward we are now towing a Jeep so not as big a deal, but, a short walk like that is perfect depending on weather I suppose. I'll have to check out Illahee. Is that a nice CG? I really like FB backed up against the hillside looking out at the lights of downtown and the freight ships going by.

In theory, you could camp at the Illahee State Park and catch a Bremerton city bus to the ferry terminal. You would have to walk to Trenton Avenue to catch the bus. It's about a 1/2 mile.

If you want to do Seattle, there is only one RV Park worth staying at:

Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell.

On a scale of one to ten, it's a ten, and its close to the stuff you want to do. Open year round too.
