I'm going to reiterate what others have said, don't go in the summer unless it's your only option due to work/school. May for waterfalls, Sept if you want to go up Tioga Road. Hard to get both of those in one trip. If you were not visiting the valley, Tulomne Meadows is a summer option. If you go in October you have a little more chance at light fall color and a slim chance of rain giving a trickle to the falls.
