Maybe I am a bit biased living so close to Yosemite Valley but it is a freaking zoo all summer long, traffic jams, crowded noisy campgrounds, lines of people on the popular trails. Summer is better spent in the high country of the park. If you want Waterfalls April through May in a normal rainfall year. If you want the Valley, Toulumne,and Tigo pass leading to the spectacular east side off 395, come in September when the crowds have thinned and the leaves are starting to turn.
I agree. Cannot take the crowd more than about one afternoon and then always leave to get out. Even the Awahnee hotel for lunch, although expensive, was terrible the last time we went for lunch. It used to be a wonderful experience.
