Truck camping the Grand Canyon in February. Seeking advice

I am going to be driving from Minnesota to California in February. I was thinking that the Grand Canyon would be a nice place to stop along the way. I've never been there in the winter before.
Are the roads open? Could I get snowed in? What is there to do in the winter? Does anyone have experience who could advise me? Thanks, Joel
  • My arctic fox stays warm at 0 degrees f and below. It's all self contained, so I dry camp when I can. Would the matter campground have electric hookups? Do they plow the roads when it snows?
  • We brought in New Years twice at the South Rim, both times it was more than cold enough to make jello outside. At that time only Mathers Campground was open check Grand Canyon website for updated information.

All the trails were open when we went both times.

  • South Rim is open year around, while North Rim (nicer IMHO) is often closed 6 months every season.
Even in summer at Great Canyon you can find overnight freezing, so be ready for it and just observe the forecast.
When you have extra time -google Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Rainbow Bridge. They all will be on your way.
