Sometimes you gotta take what you can get. If he put the truck on the market when this thread started, it's been out there for two months with no serious interest at the $28K originally estimated. At that impasse there are two choices: Keep the truck that doesn't meet your needs, or start lowering your price until it sells.
Now as for finding a $15K Duramax or Cummins in decent shape... Good luck. You'll be looking for that RARE 12-14 year old truck that was owned by a retired full-timer who cared for it meticulously and drove the bejeezus out of it. Those don't come around often and if you're not in the right place at the right time you miss out. It could take years to find that unicorn. If you need the truck sooner you will end up settling for something that's been hammered pretty hard through its lifetime.
