Most radios now a days have a security system given the cost of these things. I've never heard of a radio keeping a vehicle from starting but who knows.
The wife's nav system in her 200 costs $2800 so yep if someone rips it out of the dash they wont be able to use it as it is linked to that vehicle and only that vehicle. A replacement from a junk yard can not be installed without first going through Chrysler to have the serial number changed to the new vehicle. Buy a replacement factory radio even from a Chrysler dealer and it must be linked to your vehicle. My VW Jeta was the same way.
