If it was a security issue you should have seen the "security" lamp on the dash should have been on. I think I would take it to a dealer and have them check it with the GM scan equipment. If it was a security issue like the key was no able to be read then you need to find out before it goes out completely, consider it a warning from the truck.

The security light will not always be on or flashing. My 03 Silverado went totally dead and wouldn't even crank. I tried everything. I was just about to have it towed and found the security relearn procedure on line. I followed the steps and since I didn't have the light on I went by the time and low and behold the truck started right up. That was 3 years ago.
