Truck for sale ad waste of time

Since buying the 5er I've been looking at duallys to replace my SRW Ram.
I see an ad on the local CL for a suitable truck so I went to look at it. I knew it was overpriced but I figured the seller knew it and would deal. I went to see the truck yesterday at lunch oh my word! The thing hadn't been washed since he bought it, the paint was badly oxidized, the hood deflector was missing a piece but he said he still had it and said I could glue it back on, a trailer had been dropped on the bed, one rear splash guard was half gone, the tires were shot, need I go on? I always thought you spiffed stuff up to sell it. Not this guy although he was an interesting guy with a wealth of stories about being on the road.
Oh well, I'll keep looking.

  • I only buy new. Do not want to buy a truck that may or may not been abused.
  • Never bother with a CL ad unless there are several pics.

And yes, some people are just clueless. My guess is that most of the overpriced vehicles on CL are there because the sellers need the payoff amount, regardless of what the vehicle is actually worth.
  • I looked at a drw that only had 20k miles on it and was 2 years old, dealer had it priced at $52k. when I got there it looked like a dog had buried a bone in the front seat! the truck had been used for plowing and had some serious idle time, the bed was all beat up. I walked away and bought a brand new truck for an extra $10k.

I discovered, at least in my area there seems to be such low volume of dually's that people and dealers think they are selling a 3 eyed unicorn.
