If you are looking for protection a bolt on guard won't do too much. I have seen deer wrap those around front ends like straws. If you want real protection you will need a bumper like a Buckstop or Ranch hand. Those will truly protect your truck. With that also comes a weight price. They can be very heavy

I agree w/ this statement. Most grill guards are for looks. Look to see what semis have and try to get name off it. I have an Exguard (I think ) on my semi. Comes in 2 styles, full and partial. I have the full. Cannot attest to it's deer worthiness yet, but sure as shootin' if I didn't have it, I would hit a deer. Weighs in around 300 pounds.
