As I talk to ford and try to understand it. The XL model I have is made for bed off applications.. Meaning they take the bed off after its sold to put on say an ambulance package or a gearbox flatbed. In order for the frame to support Mods done to the XL model they put in a 1 ton leaf spring set. My leafspring setup is 6 one being the overload.
Your truck is similar to mine except for the newer diesel engine.
9750lb 35-spline 10.5 Sterling rear axle
7350lb 35-spline Dana 60 front axle
If you have the camper package, you have same or better suspension than a SRW F350 with a shorter axle block. The 250's come stock with 17" wheels which cripples their capacity. If you found a set of take-off 18" wheels, you would have a 7000+ lb rear axle rating. If you want more that, you need to go with 19.5" wheels like I did.
I have the camper package. So I guess the real problem here is Bigger higher rated tires/rims. And maybe have to get air bags installed. It sounds like the axles and such will handle the load? least that's what im hearing from you guys and Ford thoughts?. I plan to take this rig everywhere and put lots of miles on it I just want do the right thing the first time. I don't want to be on the road and hurt someone else or myself for my lack of insite on the matter.
