Truck of the Year

If I wasn't towing larger trailers I would definitely go for the midsize truck. Why drive around all that extra metal for nothing.

The size is perfect for many people. So many people today use 1/2 ton pickups as "cars" to haul kids around and go to the grocery store. Modern full size pickups are long and wide. This new Colorado is approximately the size of an F150 from the 80's according to one road test. They are easier to park and maneuver for daily driving.

They will sell. GM did a great job. Ford and Chrysler are missing out on what will become a great market.

It's in between the size of a Toyota Tacoma and Tundra.

I don't know if I would call it a "midsize" truck compared to a 150 or 1500...more in the terms of a "smaller truck", unless extended or crew cab, which, I would imagine take away quite a bit of the payload rating and give one a short bed truck as a trade off, but again, I don't know. It's stated that it's "smaller" than a 1/2 ton truck, (what I understood from reading on the comparison to an F150)....

I don't know what one would term as a "midsize truck"...a regular cab, short bed 150 or 1500 could be deemed a "midsize" truck.

sometimes maneuverability does have it's benefits. If you don't believe it, ask the nice lady in the long bed crew cab pickup who just did a 75 point turn trying to get out of the mall parking spot at christmas time. I've also noticed the auto part companies love the mini trucks. But that's almost exclusively for cost related reasons I'd guess.

In my case the new Colorado is exactly the size I want/need. We currently have an 08 Dakota and love the size. In a little over 2 years we're going full time. Our Dakota will have a few too many years on it by then, so the Colorado will be perfect for our TOAD needs. It's quite a bit lighter then the full sized trucks, and will hold my Honda Shadow in it's bed perfectly. With the crew cab option I'll still be able to take another couple with us if need be.
