Well, it is finished :)
After enduring the end of the month "panic sales events" last month, and then taking a breath, we ended up buying a truck yesterday.
A leftover '14 Ram 3500 SXT with the Cummins :)
It ended up being the truck I told the salesman 2 weeks ago "If you make your asking price the down the road price I'll sign the papers today." After he said he couldn't do it I've been watching it's price steadily drop to a 'within striking distance' of what I had offered.
Had some other trucks to go see yesterday, so I just sent him an email restating my offer. He got back to me with a number $1000 more than I offered if we used "their financing." I told him we had financing in order and that we were maxed out (the truth).
Went and looked at a truck that might be "it," but after seeing dings all over it and finding out it was an ex-rental I decided to contact the other dealer with a 'split the difference' offer......"If you can come in today, the Chrysler rep will cover the $500."
"We're on our way" :)
It's white, not my fave, but I'm thinking of some chrome fender trim and it will lose it's "work truck" look.
It's no fully loaded dream truck, but for us it has everything we wanted.
Can't believe we got a brand new diesel for less than ordering the gas version we wanted.
Wasn't easy, but I found if you're patient and respectful things can happen. Could just as easily lost out on it if it had sold once we originally walked away, but I guess this was meant to be.
Anyway, we pick her up next Saturday.
Cheers,
Mike
