If your wanting good mpg for your DD and looking for a 5k trailer then any 1/2 ton like the F150 3.5 EB or GMs 1500 5.3 will fill the bill.
The F150HD 3.5 EB engine with 7850 gvwr and 4800 rawr will handle 10k trailers nicely and still get some good mpgs as a DD. This from current thread on the F150 HDPP from a very happy owner pulling a 37' X 9900 GVWR TT https://forums.goodsamclub.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29711682.cfm.
A 3/4 ton gas Ram....GM....Ford will not get very good mpgs for your DD commute/etc.
A 5000 lbs gross weight TT and 35' TT doesn't go in the same sentence. You have a decision to make on actual trailer weight and what size truck is needed to pull the beast.
