I believe that you can never have too much truck...........but you already have a truck.
That said, power, gearing, etc , should be a non issue with that trailer.
If you have a 1700 pound payload per door placard and dry hitch of around 600-700 there is wiggle room. This may or may not work per personal decision.
You will probably be 7000-7500 in tow which is within your limits for sure.
I agree with others here who mention the gearing is not as big a deal now with 6-8 and soon 10 speed trannys. Again.....IMO.
Payload is key to me.
My fifth is really light. 7000 dry, 1150 pin, 8200-8500 camp ready.
I had a max tow f-150 with 7700 gvwr and used for 2 years. Was really good ......But being so close on payload and rawr I jumped to f350 diesel as we tow in mountains of Alberta, BC, Idaho, California, etc. did not even consider the 250. Mind you this is with fifth wheel and you are TT and lighter .
