- DadoffourgirlsExplorerWhat is key is to compare there mileage over a year to other trucks they had over a year. I know that Motortrend published these when they had a Ram, F150 and the GM. I know that the year mileage was all in the 14 range.
We can all argue what real MPG is. It depends on driving habits, fuel type (how much ethanol), type of driving, elevation, etc.
I have been lucky to drive a new vehicle every 6 months, and put between 15k and 25k on during the 6 months. After multiple weeks of driving the same route to work, with similiar traffic, and similiar trips to athletic/extra curricular events, I can tell the difference in MPG! I can comment that the GM 4.3 V6 with AFM does a great job for MPG and towing. I averaged 4 mpg better then vehicles with the 5.3. I wish GM would have put the 4.3 in the new Colorado. - TomG2ExplorerAll the manufacturers build special models that have twenty percent more power and get twenty percent better fuel mileage than the rest of us get. "They" don't want us all to have one, but they are doled out to the select few that will brag about them on the Internet daily.
- Bionic_ManExplorerEcoboost is a good engine but it is NOT a step forward in MPG.

Ford doesn't talk much about it's being the most economical truck to drive. Their wording is the best COMBINATION of mileage and power. Lots of trucks may get better mileage with small V-8s or 6 cyl engines but certainly can't tow 11,000 lb. over 7% grades at over 12,000 feet elevation and do it in 4th gear.
My 2013 2500 Cummins can??
My 2004 tractor motor can.
My 2012 Boss 379 can. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

I'm sure the drivers were not paying for the gas, so why would you NOT put your foot into an Ecoboost F150!! I know I do PAY for gas in mine, as well as the NOTE on it and I'm finding it really, really hard NOT to keep my foot out of it, because it just pulls so darn hard when the turbos kick in, it's a blast to drive... :)
I only have 800 miles on mine and haven't towed yet, but it's 'average mpg' is sitting at 17 mpg right now..
I'm loving it, so hate it if you must, but I love mine!!

- TargaExplorerI am a little surprised by the mileage but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker. I am about the furthest thing away from a Ford fan as any one could ever be but the one redeeming quality that Ford has is the F-150 and the Ecoboost.....well, that and the Boss 302, ok so two redeeming qualities.

Neither can the vast majority of Eccoboost's. Unless it comes with the Max Payload and Max tow package (and very few do), there is no way it can tow 11,000# of anything without being waaaay over its payload. I like the Ecoboost, think it is one hell of an engine but the hype goes on and on. I always seek out Eccoboost owners to get their experience. The last guy I spoke with (yesterday), said he screwed up and got it with a 3:23 rear end and he is pulling an 8,000# TT. What is wrong with this picture boys and girls? :R - UnyalliExplorerTruck trends must be affiliated with msnbc. Buddy of mine has ecobooster 150 for over a year now and averages 19 mpg.
