run 100, I have chains on my tie downs also. This was required when I bought a new camper and did not want to buy new Happi Jacs. The chain is just a spacer to make a shorter tie down work in a long scenario

We carry a Lance on a 2012 F350 s/b. Looking at your set-up (which looks very nice!), something that jumped out at me is your rear turnbuckles. Why did you need to add the chain to close the gap between the bumper and the camper? Our turnbuckle spans the distance with no problem.

Just a curious observation.

Fisher Bill, Weighing the 2 axles gives you the concentration of weight on each axle. This is easily accomplished by going to a commercial truck scale and properly position your rig on the platforms They will give you the front axle, rear axle, and gross weight all at the same time. Nearby truck stops should be able to do this for around 10-15 bucks. Petro, Flying J, T/a, Loves, etc all have scales.

Grodyman, One of the reasons I went with the Rickson's is they have rims made specifically for my chevy. this includes the factory offset, ( so I was told). the rims I have will accept all but the largest size on the 19.5's , so that gives me some versatility.

While I was running my AF990 I noticed that the right rear tire always ran hotter than any other tire by quite a bit, I believe due to the crown of the road causing the whole set up to lean to the right slightly mile after mile. I know the right two tires were carrying more than the left. This is another reason I don't want to be at or over on the rear tires.

I just weighed the front axle and then the whole rig and subtracted to get the rear weight. Honestly I don't know how accurate it is, but probably in the ballpark.

We weigh front and rear to determine if the rear tires are overloaded or not. Practically speaking, that's never going to happen with a DRW with 4 tires instead of 2.

My rig is around 8900#'s and my camper runs anywhere from 4800-5200 so I see an overall weight of 13600-14100 on the scale

I feel this is pretty accurate because I weigh at almost every unmanned weigh station in Oregon.

It just seems like weighing the front and the back separately would not give you accurate info.

Am I missing the point by trying to figure how the overall weight of the rig could influence the weight of the front and back separately?

I don't want to worry about a lift or level kit but want a good looking (bigger) tire on a stock truck. The black Vision looks good on a white truck.
As Vinsil pointed out running a 285 allows you to run less air pressure and still get the proper load rating.

If you give me your phone # I can text you some pics. They are a true 35" measured tire. I do think your confusing the the side wall height with section width.

My 285/70/19.5 works like other metric measurements. The 285 number refers to side wall height, distance from the wheel edge to tire tread. The next number, 70 refers to section width, so the width of the tire. So, compared to my 285/75/17's....the 19.5's are about a half inch narrower.

You will also notice the 19/5's will be more square looking due to construction and no rounded like a LT tire. If your after looks, I believe I have one of the most aggressive 19.5 tire tread designs offered. It looks like a all terrain to me.

So, they are big, about the size of a 325 series in a LT. Aggressive....not in my opinion. But I'm also used to having full mud tires on my truck as I spend a lot time offroad.

It is a trade off but I'm happy and confident in them. Another note...they are pretty loud. Not super swamper loud; but some of the loudest tires I've had. They....sing. It's the square tread block design and again, trade off for wanting a "traction" tire in a 19.5.

One last thing. My tires rub the inner fender. I trimmed some and it's ok, but they barely rub. It annoys me something fierce and I have had a 2" leveling kit in my garage for months. There are a few reasons I haven't put it on. Right now, my truck is perfect and doesn't get death wobble or anything. Lift and level kits can make it happen by improper geometry and show worn parts up fast such as balljoints and tie rod ends.

The other reason is I don't want to run 60+ psi in my bags to keep it more level.

So I'm dealing with the rubbing for now. It's not hurting anything but want to make you aware if you go this large in a tire. Be aware your tpms will freak out on you as well. I think the dealer can reprogram them for the higher psi...
