So my GVRW is 9200, curb weight is 5090. It is a 2001 Silverado HD with 6.6 Duramax. Am 8 correct that I can haul a camper up to about 4000 LBS.

Sheesh. Yes, it'll haul it just fine. That sticker isn't any kind of legal limit.
The frame is the same one as a 3500, it's not going to bend. The axle isn't going to break, it's the same as in the 3500.
It's got the same brakes as a 3500. There are those that live by the factory-stock textbook, and there are those who actually look at what the truck is.
Add some springs, LIKE THE FACTORY DID on the heavier rated ones, or use bags, make sure you have tires rated for the weight, put on a sway bar, and go camp.
You do not have to go buy a 2018 F550.
