I've been all over the map in RV's. VW camper with pop-up roof, (50 hp it seemed like), tent trailer, lived in 29' Airstream for couple years, another tent trailer, 30' 5th wheel toyhauler and now an Apex 8 Outfitter pop-up truck camper. Each one worked for us at different times in our life.
We got the truck camper because our sons graduated from college and we are now empty nesters. We got frustrated with not being able to take the 5th wheel many places we wanted to go. We enjoy the freedom and mobility the TC allows us.
Can't comment on how the truck drives with a big heavy camper. Our camper drives like a regular truck. My wife doesn't hesitate to drive it...which is another plus when I needed a break. She wouldn't drive the truck with a trailer attached.
