Which type of metal valve?
The bolt in type is more industrial and has no rubber part. But, I read somewhere that the bolt on could corrode due to it's metal not being aluminum like the wheel it's bolted too.
The metal "bolt on" stems may be aluminum or steel. I had aluminum stems on steel wheels on my fifth wheel with no corrosion issues (using Pressure Pro System sensors).
The rubber covered brass stems? I would have concerns that the weight of a tire sensor out there on the end of the valve stem on a wheel rotating at high speed would break the stem. Not to get all scientific, but I'm thinking even 12 grams of weight and the centrifugal force might be too much for anything that wasn't solid metal.
