I just ordered the TST TPMS 507 RV system for our Sunset Trail 20CK travel trailer. (4 sensors) I had read online, their website actually, that they recommend metal valve stems. When I called and asked them whether I needed the bolt in type of metal valve stem, or just the pull through type, they said that rubber stems were just fine with the new 507 system's smaller sensors. (Discount Tire asked me which type of metal stems I wanted)
The new sensors weight 12 grams, or about .42 ounces. In my research of TPMS systems, I noticed that Tire Traker also has small sensors, .3 ounces (per their website), and they too claim rubber valve stems are just fine.
We tow about 3000 miles per year, most are short trips of less than 60 miles, with 3 longer 300-500 mile trips.
Should I trust the sales guy at TST, or get metal?
If metal, which version (pull through or bolt in)? (we have aluminum wheels)
Your experience?
thanks ... Mike
I have the same system with standard rubber valve stems. The work fine but I still plan to have all metal stems installed. It
's Justus personal preference.
