Isn't this sort of like asking, "How big should my home be?" Some people would be happy with a 1 bedroom efficiency, others couldn't possibly think of anything other than a 6000 sq.ft. McMansion.
11 years ago, I got into an in-home service business. One of the clients I had in the first year was a C-level officer in a major corporation. During the several days I was there, I concluded there becomes a time when you don't own a house, it owns you.
The Mrs. must have written 12 checks while I was there -- me, the painter, the pool guy, the landscaper, the electrician, the lawn service, the handyman. That did not include any of the other things like utilities, security service, cable, etc. Another place I visited later had a full time housekeeper, another who came by in the morning, made beds, did laundry etc., three or four maintenance people, a personal assistant, a house manager, and I don't know who else other than the interior designer that had me there. Two people lived there and his office and her office were about 100 yards apart at opposite ends of the house.
