TT helium refer

I saw a video of a New TT for sale that showed a helium refer. Are those new? Has anyone seen one or have any knowledge about them?
I look forward to your comments.
Thanks
  • Helium..........non-flammable
    Hydrogen.....FLAMMABLE

    Other than that........not much difference

Ford's RV Training & Service tested an Atwood Helium & Dometic Hydrogen RV Fridges.
    Conclusion:
The bottom line is that the helium absorption refrigerator provides adequate refrigeration and performs well relative to the hydrogen absorption refrigerator.

One concern that should be noted is the inability of the Atwood models to restart operation after a power outage

  • How much is out of level? I hate to think of the number of times my pop-up was park on a hill or slope. "Level" was a close approximation. Still my little 3cu.ft keeps plugging away.
  • The He unit in my rig is 8 cu ft. One of the nicer features about the Atwood He reefer is it's protection against operating in out of level condition which is one of the worst things you can do to your absorption reefer.

Here's an article on Atwood's unit when they came out in 2011:

  • I remember a few years ago there was a massive discussion on RV.net about helium filled tires. The jokes and comments were hysterical! So, maybe I should be the first to ask: If your refrigerator is filled with helium, will that help reduce the weight of the refrigerator, since it will want to float up in the air? :)
  • From what I've read, they helium fridges usually have slight more capacity inside. They'll be 7 cu ft where the older style will be 6
  • About absorption refrigerators

Helium has replaced hydrogen gas in the newer fridges. You still have ammonia as the refrigerant and, sorry, Bob, helium is heavier than hydrogen. Pull up another link on the WDH, lol.
  • Hmmmm never heard of it.
    Sounds interesting.

Helium - should make the TT lighter, right?
    :B
  • My new FW has one. One thing I like is that the temp was adjustable. I didn't have this option on my ammonia refrigerator.
  • I have one it works fine. From my understanding they do not to be as level as the regular one
