TT with Murphy Bed - Forest River and Venture Sonic

I'm looking at a TT with 1 slide out, bunks and murphy bed, short as possible. These are the only two floor plans that I found; am I missing something? (Forest River has another plan but the TT is 28')

A few questions:

Do the rounded fronts of the TT make that big of a difference towing vs the flat-style? I would think so.

Both have features I like and those I don't. I'm not a fan of the aluminum on the FR, there is less storage in the Sonic by Venture. Just looking for other opinions?

I can't help in your search but I also like the Murphy bed concept. I understand and agree with your reasoning.

I am currently gutting my toy hauler and building a new interior. It will have a Murphy bed that comes down over a couch. In my case the advantage is low cost and I keep the boondocking capabilities of large tanks, large cargo capacity, and a built in generator. And I get it all at a National Park friendly length.

There is no significant gain to a curved or slanted front. Buy the model that best suits your needs. A difference of .5 mpg is meaningless.

    Saw this, no slide out.

Saw this, wondering if the rounded front makes any difference versus this style flat front. So I had removed this from my list

    Salem Hemisphere Lite 24BH

Saw this floor plan, initially targeting the 220VBH and 230BHXL style floor plans. We may go with one similar to the 24BH. I hesitate because of the bunks being in plain view of the dinette.

Micro lites only offer bunks and sofa in the 25BHS, which I believe is new for this year.

    2014 Jayco WhiteHawk 20MRB

Didn't see bunks when I looked at the Jayco 20MRB

    Sonic 220VBH Travel Trailer

This is what we are looking at now.

2017 Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2304DS

Again, is there an argument on flat front vs curved?

Thanks, I've been looking for a while, familiar with those posted. Maybe I should just give in and go for a 30'+ and have all the floor space want. :)
  • I believe older models with the murphy bed didn't have a pass through, just trying to clarify.

The jist of what I'm trying to accomplish is have more floor space, with bunks on a sub 28' coach. I appreciate the feedback, I just feel that the bed sitting there the whole time could be better utilized space. /me shrugs

Both of the TT I listed have pass through storage under the murphy bed.

I never said they didn't. ;) The point is - any trailer with a Murphy bed will have a much smaller front pass through cargo compartment and NO under bed storage. Compare this to my own 19' Freedom Express which has a HUGE front pass through cargo compartment along with additional storage under the bed itself. :B

Personally, I'd prefer to have a little more open floor space and a couch vs the bed. Just my opinion. I could be in the minority as there are limited floor plans with this idea in mind.

    You are. :W
  • We had a 24ft FR TT with the murphy bed. Size was good, however I found that if one of us was sleeping or resting with the bed down, sitting at the table was uncomfortable and disturbed the other person. Plus you had to get in at the end of the bed and it is higher than a normal bed height.
  • Both of the TT I listed have pass through storage under the murphy bed.

While a Murphy bed may seem like a good idea at first glance you'll lose significant storage because of it and have nowhere near the storage in a comparably sized trailer with a conventional front queen bed with storage underneath AND front pass through cargo compartment.

No difference at all ... with any full height travel trailer you're towing a barn door, regardless of how "rounded" that front wall may be.
