I towed 1200 miles this weekend. Tow vehicle was a 2014 Silverado Double Cab 5.3 V8 4x4 LTZ. 600 miles with empty 2400lb cargo trailer, 600 miles with loaded (4400lb) cargo trailer. My average mpg for the trip was 16.0 mpg. I discovered that tow haul still allows the truck to go into V4 mode. I could tow 2-lane highways in V4 mode at 55mph after getting up to speed. I towed the Mackinac Bridge in V4 mode up and down (at 30 mph).
I then proceeded to get 23 mpg for my Monday and Tuesday commute.
OK, but can you mount a 10,000lb FW with a 1500lb pin weight on it and a 200lb hitch in the bed with the RPM @ 1800 while getting 11 MPG in V6 turbo mode?
No, I would not mount a FW hitch and put 1700lb on the bed. I would love to see a F150 do that and get 11 mpg as you so laughling claimed. I would even make a roadtrip to ride in it!
