I suppose I am just leery of the forced injection on vehicles sold to the normal American customer. I just see a disaster in the future. Maybe not to the original buyer who buys often. But at least on the re sale market or the person who expects to keep their vehicle longer.
The computer will keep track of how often you put your foot to the floor. Of course if that isn't covered by the warranty. A Lawyer would argue that Ford should have put a block of wood under the gas pedal.
I would expect there to be a 36,000 mile warranty. I wonder how the warranty service will be to the second buyer in the case of a failure within the warranty period.
The same argument has been made every time a new automotive innovation has come along- overhead valves, multibarrel carbuerators, overhead cams, catalytic converters, fuel injection, etc., etc. The end result has consistently been improved performance, reliability, fuel economy and engine life. A 170 cubic inch engine used to have maybe 90 horsepower, got less than 20 mpg and was junk after 100,000 miles if it made it that long. Now a 110 cubic inch engine has 170 horsepower, gets 35 mpg and will likely go well over 100,000 miles with just basic maintenance.
