Well that statement is sure a concern for the unconscious but still living passengers in the car..
It's a concern also for those standing around watching a human being sizzled. Some of those watching maybe parents of children in the car.
Making a situation stable enough to save lives is the first concern of firemen.
A magnesium fire is not a stable situation. Unless you consider a violent burn as being stable.
I saw video of the 2016 HD Ford test vehicle burn at Death Valley. There was a Magnesium burn. I don't know if that was a body part or some other part that was burning. The camouflage cover certainly played a part.
It took 18 minutes for the truck to be reduced to a pile of rubble.
Those tanks on the trailer were full of water.
