It is NOT the the application of alu that I'm touching on...it is the
pure marketing verbiage that works so well on those who don't
understand the underlying IP
Take direct injection that is now heralded as a Ford thing via
the EcoBoost.
Isuzu, Toyota and GM had gasoline direct injection in production
vehicles years to over a decade before Ford had anything
Aluminum bodied vehicles has been around for decades and decades
before Ford announced it for their pickup line
For those uninformed (ignorant) of these IPs having been produced
for decades...this and GDI is the best thing since sliced bread
Even forced feeding is also heralded as an amazing 'new' IP...by
marketing and those who have no clue whether truly new innovation
or just a new to them
I'm now waiting for an OEM to show up with a nitrous on one of
these lineups and will likewise be heralded as the next best 'new'
thing since sliced bread... :S
PS....betcha a steel bed with a spray-on bed liner just shown on the marketing
video would do even better than the aluminum bed... :S

When you try and innovate and not sit on your heels you will always get the the naysayers. Now we have those implying the aluminum is in fact just tinfoil because of their wording on the type of aluminum. Wait, they used a spray in bed liner. I know for a fact no one uses those so the test is invalid.
Then you have those compelled to chime in how (insert technology here) did not invent this or was the first to bring to market. Ford did not invent the horseless carriage but he sure did innovate the process to bring to the masses.
