It was relaxing to drive at 85-90 mph (lonely prairie highways)...the engine not turning over too fast (for the times)....ok MPG, lot's of passing power.
There is something to be said, for a big block V8, with easy gearing.
I bought the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost for the same reasons. Low RPM cruising.
The 3.5L V6 EcoBoost has more low rpm torque and HP than Ford's 6.2L V8. (But at higher rpms's > 3500 the big V8 can take it.)
It's the turbo that increases the torque and shifts it to lower rpms.
You should drive one and compare it to a bigger V8. Compared to most V8s, the EcoBoost will be running at lower rpms.
Aother advantage of the turbo is little loss of power at high elevations.
As to whether at turbo V6 will be more reliable than a bigger V8 in the long run? No idea. Is a turbo more complicated than an extra pair of cylinders and cylinder de-activation?
Good idea, maybe I should take a 3.5 liter turbo V6 for a spin. But it still wouldn't have that nice V8 exhaust rumble of a V8.:B
