- shelbyjExplorerI don't turn it off. I will try and park at an outer pump so the trailer is not near the pumps. Also I fill up on the opposite side of the fridge so IMO its a very low risk.
- mockturtleExplorer IIIn the Foretravel my late DH and I had, the fridge would automatically shut off when the engine was turned off and would have to be reset (a blinking red light would remind us). So obviously, this is a known safety measure.
- tenbearExplorerI made a wireless remote control so I could turn off the fridge before entering the gas station and turn it back on after leaving. Makes it real easy to turn off the fridge. The hard part is remembering to turn it back on. :h
- tenbearExplorerDuplicate post, sorry.

- HuntindogExplorerNo one will change their minds because of this.
But consider.... If you are going to turn the fridge off.... It needs to be done before pulling into the station. And then it needs to be started after leaving it... Doing either while at the station defeats the purpose.
So now you have to find a place away from the station to turn it off, and turn it back on. That can be a hassle with a TT hitched up.
But lets say you go to all of the effort and are at the pump about to refuel.... And a MH pulls up on the opposite side of the pump... It is very likely that he hasn't turned his off.... So you and yours just wasted your time as you are now in the same danger as if you didn't do it either....
What do you do????? Pee your pants? - OkSixpackExplorerIt's amazing to me that some people will not take time to do something so simple. It's not only your life but the lives of everyone else in the area you put in possible danger. Do fires happen often because of this, I'm sure they don't. It only takes once though.

bumpy - Bigbird65ExplorerI haven't been turning the refrig off when refueling but after reading this thread I think I will. It is so simple to do.
