TV Antenna (New Style

Keystone is putting a different type TV Antenna on the Outback Terrains. Does anyone have info or any experience with these/ I'm not sure but I do not believe these can be spun or raised. I tried to research but have not been able to find anything other than what is on the Website

  • My omni ant is just the mushroom, with a flat top. It is also for FM, which does work pretty well. The tv reception is very poor, unless you are very close to transmitting towers.

Let us know how good yours works, as it looks like I could replace mine with yours.

I've been using the Jack replacement head, mounted on a mast, fastened to my ladder. This works really well, just one extra thing to do when setting up.

I would hope they could come up with a good, fixed omni, eventually, as the idea is right.

  • you are claiming that these omni directional antennas have the same reception/sensitivity 360 degrees. and if it isn't directional, what do those two wings do?

  • Well, you have to be a little suspicious of something that looks like it was made out of a garden rake and has a gain rating of 30db. It might be a marvelous new concept and works wonderfully but I doubt it.

Really, there is no substitution for height. I made my own antennas and have the UF antenna on a mast that is 5-6 ft. above the roof of my trailer. At my house, I'm 30 mi. from the broadcast antennas and the reception/picture quality is better than the cable feed we use inside the house.

doesn't OMNI directional mean semi poor reception in a 360 degree radius?

Nope. Omni can even be designed with gain. That said I suspect there is an amplifier inside that round head. Should be close to the performance of the Jack antenna. Only disadvantage is being so low to the roof.

Yes - per the below specs it is amplified. I'm assuming this antenna is doing double duty as the FM radio antenna for the unit. If that's the case and it works, that's one less hole in the roof!

Specially compatible with HDTV of various digital terrestrial signals (DVB-T, ISDB-T, DMB-T/H, ATSC) and DAB/FM radios
Waterproof housing design made of UV resistant material
Built-in high gain and low noise amplier, shielded for minimum interference
The antenna is surface-treated to withstand impacts from all weather conditions
Solid design for strong wind resistance
    Receiving range: FM/VHF/UHF
    Frequency range: 47-230MHz; 470-862MHz
    Gain: 30dB
    Dimensions: 190H x 1225W mm
    Max. Output level: 110dBV Max
    Power supply: DC12V

Is this from experience ? Looking for real world info on this antenna or similar compared to the old school raise and spin ones.

no, just things written over the years.

  • Also I am concerned with covering the TT in the winter and snow load on those elements. Wondering if they can be slid into the housing?
