TV engine oil

Just in from changing the Sub's engine oil and thought to post this if you guys haven't considered getting the last drop of oil out of the bottle...

Do one each night and the next morning the bottle is completely emptied

I use this as my shop oil bottle filler. Mixed with Molybdenum Disulfide powder

  • Been doing the same for years. What surprises me is how many are changing their own oil.

    Gbopp- frugal not cheap, LOL.

X2. Many years. But, I'm cheap.
  • I just leave each one upside down in the oil filler for a minute. Not much left after that. But it does show how much is wasted if you just dump he oil in and toss the bottle.
  • Make my own oil bottle from this and heat/pull the tip to make an approx 1/64" dia nozzle. Tube is about 8" long and can reach/poke/etc into spots regular oil cans and sprays can not get to and/or will make a mess

If anyone makes one, be sure to pull the tube all the way out when storing it. Else it will expand from ambient changes to make a mess

Newer ones has a much longer and refined tip...learned HOW2 heat the plastic and pull with needle nose better. The only way to oil the door hinge pin of my Suburban

(edit)...great for firearms. Most oil can/bottle drops are too big/much
  • Nice to know that some of the kids are beginning to get a bit smarter. Been doing this for many years because we had to save every penny we could. Worked as a mechanic helper for a while many years ago, and that was one of my jobs to drain all the oil cans. Yes, engine oil used to come in cans... And we had oil can spouts that were punched into the can tops to make it easy to pour. And it was amazing how much oil we could recover when doing many oil changes every day!
  • Well, I’ll be honest and say I’m lazy, I just throw the bottles in the bin at the oil recycling place. I do keep the remainder of the big bottles for the next oil change, but there is usually a quart or two remaining in those. What kind of oiler do you use? Those are getting less and less used as everyone changes to aerosols.
