Two Questions (Sanitize and Empty Tank)

Two general questions, which I am sure have been discussed if I took the time to search for the answers...

1) What is the easiest way to sanitize the freshwater tank? Bleach and water mixture is recommended by manufacturer, but are there chlorine tabs I can drop in? Also how often should that be done?

2) My black tank indicator is showing 1/4 full when the it should be empty. After dumping, and all the waste is drained, the indicator light still shows 1/4 full. I have one of those internal wand things that is supposed to help flush the system, but the light still shows stuff. Thoughts?
  • After an initial sanitizing, if you use a good municipal water supply for filling your tank you should not need to again unless you take on some questionable water. Black tank sensors are notoriously inaccurate as it is impossible to keep them clean enough to give accurate readings.
  • I am sure there are chlorine tablets you could buy, but why? You would never know if they are fully dissolved so you wouldn't know when it is safe fill the lines or to drain the system back down. Bleach is cheap and easy. Add bleach, fill tank, fill lines, let set for recommended contact time, drain down. That seems pretty straight forward. Why do you want to use tablets?

I do mine once a year at the beginning of the season.
