This current diesel truck of mine has spoiled and impressed me with three round trips to the Mississippi River and too many trips to count in the Cascades and Sierras all over 19k lbs GCW.
My last large move was over 20 years ago from NC to WA in a then new 24' GMC TopKick at about 23k lbs GCW. Although it had less than 5000 miles on it, the gasoline engine couldn't hold 50 mph without downshifting when driving through the windy plains and was passed by semis on most grades. It averaged about 7 mpg on that move.
