On a side note, I read in a recent Motor Trend that their long-term 2013 Ram 1500 4X4 Hemi averaged 15.6 mpg over 30,000 miles, and their long-term 2012 Ford F150 4X4 Ecoboost averaged 14.4 mpg over 30,000 miles. That is a test using various lead-foot drivers running it hard for a year. Nothing to do with Ecodiesel, but I still thought it was interesting.
That is a VERY interesting comparison, and surprising. Looks like the ecoboost's touted economy advantage may be just a lot of "smoke & mirrors" in practical application. Of course, as you pointed out, these folks are driving the hell out of these test rigs.
