But it's not just the HP difference. The diesel is inherently more efficient. If you compared a diesel with 360hp against the EcoB at 360hp, in the same truck, the diesel would be more fuel efficient.
From what I can tell, the even big diesels in the 250/2500s can get about the same unloaded mileage as I do with the EcoB, and can get 25% better mileage when towing.
Yup again. My vehicle with 2.0 L turbo, DI, gas, 220 hp is EPA rated at 23 mpg combined. Same vehicle, same transmission with 3.0 L TDI, 240 hp is rated at 27 mpg combined.
