My wife was recently shopping for a new car. We hit many brands as I'm not a fanboy of any one. While she was in the show room, I walked back to the shop.
The consensus was that EVERY ONE was full of late model cars of their brand! I could tell no difference in the REAL world.

Cabin fever starting early for some folks I guess?
Why yes! Down here in my piece of Florida, it didn't go above 70 the last 2 days. Today, it's warm again! :B
All vehicles break, just a matter of how frequently and in or out of warranty. Some more than others....
X2 I'm loading the sleds up later today and heading to the mountains, where there's a bunch of snow and about -10C (aboot 14F for you southerners)
I'll pass... While your freezing your balzz off I'll be saltwater fishing.
Actually, you'd be surprised how much sweating one does...it's a heck of a workout! And, nothing beats a cold beer a couple thousand feet up a mountain while taking in the views.
And while taking in the views...one doesn't give a rats' azz about what trucks are down below in the parking lots. :B DirtyOil wrote:

In 2015 when we got a new vehicle we had to decide whether to trade in our 2007 Buick with 150K or 2007 Toyota with 50k miles on the odometer. Both were bought new, in 2007.
It was no decision at all, the Toyota even with 1/3 the miles of the Buick, had many expensive electronic issues over our ownership, we traded it in. The Buick, relatively trouble free still so, even though it is rapidly approaching it's 10 year anniversary with us. Touch wood. They (vehicles) all will have issues sooner or later.
We bought the Toyota originally because CR recommended. We have learned. - dodge_guyExplorer II

- BenKExplorerLists like these is like naming EVERYONE who helped you get to the podium...there
will be one too many left off...plus the who owns who is in a constant change
So, I take these kinds of things with a large grain of salt...and know that
they have their own predispositions...
As for Tesla...based originally on a Lotus body design...this is the first
year that they have made a profit...then the BILLIONs of bucks from the IPO
provided the money for his endeavors (SolarCity, SpaceX, etc) and NONE of them
are profitable to date
CR...PhD's galore...just like the PhD's on my Skunk Works at Labs...perfectly
fine PhD's in their field...but also morons that designed un-producible stuff... - HondavalkExplorer IIThis is easy, buy the vehicle that you have passion for. If you love the vehicle and it needs repaired 3 times a year you're still gonna be happy with it. If you don't care for the vehicle and it only needs repaired once every 3 years your gonna think it's a piece of junk.

Back in the 90's my father bought a new Honda Accord because CR said it was the best, and at around the same time he bought a used Dodge Dynasty because it was cheap. The Dodge ran well for 150,000 miles until it was totaled in a wreck. The Honda needed a new transmission and new AC before 70,000 miles.
I have owned many Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles, and the Chryslers have been the most reliable, even though the CR crowd will never believe me. But, who really cares anyway? My biggest gripe with CR is that they will give a Camaro a low rating because the visibility is bad, and give a Corvette a bad rating because it rides rough. And, some years ago, they rated the Toyota Matrix high and the Pontiac Vibe low, even though they are exactly the same car. No, I do not have the month and date and issue number, but it does not matter anyway because the CR crowd would not believe it even if I did.
I do remember reading the issue where the Ram HD was given a low rating due to a rough ride. I guess according to CR, everyone in the world just needs to buy a Camry.
As already pointed out Toyota's and Honda's have trouble and bad reviews too. Your Father got a bad one. I'd really like to know where you are looking for your info though. The Pontiac Vibe gets good reviews from CR and is gets their recommendation for the years 2006-2009(same as the Toyota Matrix). Just google it.
