I feel kind of dumb. I never realized US and Canadian gallons are not the same. 1 U.S. Gallon = 0.83267 Canadian (Imperial) Gallons 1 Can Gallon = 1.201 U.S. I guess I will have to pay more attention when people report mpg and if they are in the USA or Canada. I see there are a lot of people on this site from both.(I feel dumb for a lot of other reasons too but this forum is not the place for all that)

Most people in Canada would report litres/100km unless they convert it themselves. Gas and Diesel is not sold in gallons in Canada.

But the Canadians have switched to metric measure (liters) long ago. I do not know of anything measured in Imperial Gallons anymore

Canada use the metric system. Fuel has been sold by the litre in Canada since 1979. Imperial gallons haven't been used since.

I don't how a car manufacturer would "use" canadian gallons. I have seen them advertise mpg in Canada using Canadian Gallons though. I think this is more at the dealership level though. I see it in the local paper. Kinda funny.

You will get the Imperial mpg not the American. In the States when you are traveling multiply
the american mpg by 1.2 to convert to Imperial.

I know. It can change drastically between neighbouring cities. Before we pulled into our site we filled up at Flying J. Like 2.69 per gallon. Oh well. I only needed a 1/4 tank to fill it. :)
