when 45 gallons is really 35 gallons!!!

My Forest River 19RR Toy Hauler says it has a 45g fresh water tank. This weekend was the first time my wife joined me for an entire boondocking weekend.
We ran out of water on Sunday AM. I couldn't believe we went through 45g of water!

To day I bought a water flow meter and low and behold, I couldn't get more than 35g into the tank. I even blocked off the vent and let it fill right up to the filler hole. 30g.

I checked the flow meter with a 5g water jug and it is spot on.

What's up with this. 30g is simply not enough for two shower loving folks.

I also bought a 60g water bladder for the future. If I have to go get more water I don't want to have to take the whole trailer with me. This bladder will ride on the roof of the truck and gravity feed the tank when needed. And it packs very small for transport.
