Pup in question is 2014 Forest River Flagstaff HW27SC. Dealer trade-in from single owner. Price is good, everything appears to be in good working order, no water damage, but a couple of snags on the canvas over one of the beds and over the dinette slide.Was raining hard today when I looked at it and no rain was leaking through. Has been treated with something to prevent further tearing and the dealer says they will patch properly.Photo 1Photo 2Is this something that should prevent me from buying this pup or is it reasonable wear and tear for someone who used it "a few times"? They are only asking $12,800 for it.All opinions are very welcomed. This is our first RV. Just wanting to know if we should let this one pass by until a better one comes along.

Sounds like a high price...might want to list year,model, box size etc.

"Only" $12,800? Google the model number and you'll find prices for new and used ones at other dealers. I suspect you'll find that this is too high, but I might be wrong.

If the price is high, I would love to know that too. What do you think about the snags?

(not high or low - just right)(nice pick BTW)But never give the dealers what they are asking for, always negotiate!They can always lower their asking price a bit more - that's how the market works.The snags are not a big deal - just make sure that the dealer fix/patch it properly BEFORE you pay or take delivery.

Just remember that the dealers idea of "fixing it right" and your idea may be two different ideas.....talk it over with him - see what the SERVICE DEPARTMENT is thinking the fix should be - NOT THE SALESPERSON!!!!!

Yep, we have already been checking these out. We have heard that they can make a BIG difference in the temperature. In Texas, we will take all the help we can get! :C

I have the Flagstaff HW 27KS model which is virtually identical to this one.

Biggest problem we have had is with the power roof lift (had to have the motor replaced) and they used really short screws to mount the cabinet door hinges. My project for Monday is to replace all the screws with equivalent size nuts & bolts.

I've got mine listed on Craigslist and I probably wouldn't take much less than 12K for it, which I think is fair, so you probably got a good deal.

The snags don't look like a big deal.

When negotiating, you have to be willing to walk away if it is more than you're willing to pay. How badly you want it comes into play, as well as how badly they want to sell it. If you offer a thousand below their price and see what they say, you may end up saving $400-$500.

Their cost in the trailer (what they gave for trade-in) is likely to be $2000-$3000 below the asking price, I'd guess. There should be some wiggle room for you to dicker.

Thanks very much for the response and the advice. : ) Being new to popup campers we feel a bit out of our element although we have done quite a bit of research. We did talk to the Service Manager about it and he gave a pretty extensive description of what they were planning on doing and it sounds reasonable to us.

Any advice for negotiating the price down?
