V10 Higher Octane?

235000 miles divided by 10 mpg equals 23500 gallons of gas you bought, multiply by .05 price (estimate difference of higher octane) equals $1175.00 you paid extra.

Just wondering if that was a waste of money?

Why worry about it after 235000 miles. But you can start saving from now on.

87 works fine in mine and that's what I use

If it is a V10 Ecoboost 600hp! I would stay with 91 octanes

above about 3500ft you'll find that pump octanes are 85, 87, 89 for regular, mid and premium instead of 87, 89, 91 needs go down even more above that altitude.

Unless the manual calls for something other than 87 octane your not going to gain anything. engine ecu isn't going to give more advance,

If it doesn't ping on regular then there's no need for higher octane.

I have a 2003 F250 with the V10 and it runs great without the higher octane
