Anybody remember HAL?
-Sotto voce- “No, Kip, I don’t think it’s a good time to go outside the camper. I think you should stay inside...forever.” - NRALIFRExplorerI have nothing I’m wanting to talk to my camper about.
:):) - No thanks. I already have enough devices listening to me for marketing purposes (and who knows what other purposes).
I like knowing that when I manually pull the shades down they will stay down. Although recently putting them up, they didn't stay up. But a little bit of new string fixed that problem. Easier than replacing a several thousand dollar brain in the RV when it decides to cross it's circuits. - toedtoesExplorer IIIFrom what I saw, butts were just as big. But when you only got 4-6 channels (NBC, PBS, CBS, ABC, and maybe two "uhf" stations), and they were able to fill their programming with non-repeated shows for the most part, there wasn't as much need to change channels.
Nowadays, you have 100+ channels that repeat the same episode a good 10 times throughout the week, you have to do a lot more channel surfing to see something new. Sometimes more isn't better. - Johno02ExplorerHad a tv several years before it was necessary to change channels. Just watch whatever happened to be on the one channel.

Most of us here can likely remember having to actually get off our fat butts and turn a dial to change the channel......
Going off on tangent here;
IIRC, back then the average butt was not as fat. Also back then we would put the dial on one channel, and leave it for at least half hour, to the end of program. (Why do kids have such a short attention span?)
And also we would go thru the guide, negotiate with siblings and parents to decide what we would watch in the limited time we had for watching. (Did we learn to share? compromise? plan? the understanding of veto? (don't even look at what is on at 6 Sunday)) - toedtoesExplorer III

I use the technology I need and leave the rest to others.
Next on my list of needs is, a car to drive me to the skeet range. A car that comes curbside to pick me up at the mall, after it found its own parking space.
Home and RV, I have what I need, though a rear mounted camera might be nice.
How about a rat chauffeured car: the rats DutchmenSport wrote:

Whats next? A voice controlled toilet that rolls up to your bed so you don't have to get up at night? :B:B
If someone actually developed such a device, I'd buy one in a heartbeat! :E Only it also have an automated "wiping" device on it .... uhhh..laaaa...laaa! :E

Yeah the 3 times a night to the potty gets old! I can remember when the nigh time was for sleeping.....gbopp wrote:
Remember when we went camping to get away from it all?
Exactly!
And now some people want to bring it all with them....
