I personally always wondered why composite beds never made it much further than they are now. Ford was first with the Explorer Sport Trac sporting the plastic bed. Then Toyota in the tacoma had that, and now Honda. For all the 5th wheel and goose neck folks, just keep the steel under the bed with some hard points for that stuff, like the puck systems out there today in all big 3's.
I wonder if there are durability issues beyond the first 5 or 10 years? Oh well, I just think Composite interior beds would just be better all the way around.
