- 2BLAZERSExplorercONGRATS on moving the project closer to completion.
- BedlamModeratorMy deck has a rub strip with stake pockets. The FastGuns hook right into the pockets where you would normally screw down the stake walls.
- f4mdtwrExplorerSide note.. The kodiak did not have the tie down points welded in when I transferred the camper from the gooseneck to the kodiak. I will be welding in tie down points this weekend. I will not be traveling normally with the ratchet straps, that was just temporary. I cringed every time we drove over anything bumpy or made any type of turn. I'll be using chains with turnbuckles, same method i used when the camper was on the gooseneck worked awesome.
- BedlamModeratorThe older model orange straps were stronger. The last set I bought snapped while I was ratcheting them down and I no longer recommend them.
The short range FastGun turnbuckles work great on my flat bed, but yours almost looks like it could use the standard length model since you have that platform under your camper. - bka0721Explorer IICongrats!
Just so you are aware, my BMW motorcycle broke those weight sized ratchet straps. What keeps the camper from shifting sideways. When I see these straps I ask the question, would you use these straps to hold a Chevy Tahoe onto a trailer? Your Camper weighs approximately the same as a Chevy Tahoe.
Have fun with your new set up!

Got a chance to transfer the lance from the gooseneck trailer onto the Kodiak. Pictures…
Lance on the gooseneck getting ready to leave it's old home and onto it's new home...
Lance getting moved (that forklift is awesome)...
Ta dahhhhh… Lance in it's new home…
Now on the scary part… My buddy works for a crane company and moves a lot of stuff, he helped me get the lance onto the Kodiak. When he told me that those rinky dinky ratchet straps were going to hold i just about had a heart attack, but I trust him so on our way we went. We drove about 40 miles to his house where I will finish the rest of the fabrication.
My plans for the kodiak are
Camper/Bed
- to cover the skirts so it looks clean, with access door on both sides
- Add 2 cargo boxes under the flatbed for extra storage.
- install the 50 gallon transfer flow tank.
- install an extra water tank under the cradle.
Performance
- EFI Live
- Edge CTS monitor
- AFE filter
- MBRP downpipe
- LBZ Turbo mouth piece
- Cat delete
- Muffler delete
- EGR block
- PVC re-route
- Secondary cooling system by Cooler Towing.com
- Aux transmission cooler with fan
Interior
- New to me captain chairs for air ride seats
- Upgraded sound system
I'll post pictures of any progress - Capt_EddieExplorerInstead of using a Lance camper that does not allow the camper to be loaded all the way to the front. Why not look at other brands that might allow the bottom end to be cut off or deleted at the factory? It was not hard at all to modify my camper to sit flat on the bed. I know that a Lance 1040 and a 830 can be converted to sit flat.
- ticki2ExplorerBTG , This place probably knows more about Allisons than anybody in the country , and he'll talk to you . Ask for Mike . He has come up with his own HD cooler .
http://inglewoodtransmission.com/jm/ - btggraphixExplorerHey, that's great news, glad to hear it, and thanks for updating this!
Cooling upgrades, can you elaborate? I recently realized that none of the coolers in front are for transmission other than the one located inside the engine coolant radiator. I'm having some issues with the new rebuilt tranny getting hot in hot weather and in slow or parked traffic.....I'm also planning on adding a tranny cooler w/fan though I have to wait for now. I just replaced leaking head gaskets ($$$$) on my Duramax. To add an OEM auxiliary tranny cooler would be something like $1200 even while they already had everything apart. It would be an extra 3 hours or so with it not already assembled and I don't think it comes with an extra fan. Pretty pricey!
Have you already picked out what you are doing for cooling upgrades? Thread on the diesel place? - f4mdtwrExplorerBTG,
Small update. Finally got to see the lights lite up at night.... Let me tell you... GET THEM!!!! These things are bright as hell. Never saw the OEM's on but these things are awesome. Extremely satisfied.
Going to get back on my build shortly. Had a family issue that needed my 100% attention. Getting ready to put the camper on the flat bed and start with other small upgrades, audio tunes, exterior lighting, cooling upgrades, changing all fluids, installing captains chairs for comfort. Pictures to come.
