Seems to me that if you can remember to turn off the water pump when you leave the trailer, you could also remember to turn off the city water connection at the hydrant when you leave. I do that all the time.

Had the OP not been hooked up to city water, he would have run out of water, and likely not had a problem other than maybe a new pump.:R
